The Almshouse

“I decided to do this book when I came across the Alms Cemetery. When asking a few people about the cemetery, no one knew anything about it. I decided to research the subject of the Alm's cemetery. Little did I know what I was about to find out!

The cemetery was a part of the Almshouse/poor house, which existed in Gettysburg in the early 1800’s. While doing the research, I came across some very interesting stories that I thought other people would like to know. When one door closed another one would open. It took me months to gather the information in this book.

I decided to do a series of books on "THE LOST HISTORY OF GETTYSBURG." It was the people and businesses that made this town; it isn't just about the Civil War. Doing this series may help restore the history of Gettysburg that has slowly faded away or has been changed. 1 hope everyone enjoys the first series.

I would like to thank the people who helped in the research room; without them, this book couldn't have been done.”
